Interview The Mentors

Peer mentors are very useful. it's like another teacher. When you cannot reach your teacher, that peer mentor is there. They are all knowledgeable in the school campus so they can help a lot. This MUSE class somewhat helped me transition my lifestyle from high school to college. I definitely get more sleep than i was in high school. It also shows the difficulty change between the two. I have to take care of myself now than the teacher telling us what to do.

In Chapter 4, I notice that I scored very high in the mathematic and kinesthetic column. I scored pretty low in the verbal-linguistic and spiritual column. I guess i like problems that can be solved than wondering about things instead. I'm much a visual sensor. I learn better when I watch people do it first than reading it from a book. My strengths are solving problems and other stuff. My weaknesses would be interpreting something that doesn't have a definitive answer and listening.
In Chapter 5, My critical thinking abilities are not that exceeding. I am a very simple and do not like to go for into complexity. When I solve problems I will actually "be in the zone." When i don't understand, I would ask for help depending on how much assistance i need. I find myself somewhat satisfied with life. I just regret picking some classes and some actions i have done to my friends.

Going Nocturnal

I have been very tired this week. The last furlough day made my sleeping schedule a living hell! I woke up at 4pm on that tuesday. i tried sleeping around 2am but it was just too early (oxymoron :P) I basically stayed up until 9am, 1 hour before class starts. I just felt too weak to go to class and ended up sleeping. Have you ever tried flipping your sleeping schedule backwards? It is horrible... BLAHHH
My friend's birthday are coming up! They both are celebrating this weekend and I am so excited! Congrats to Vincent on turning 18! you're official now! don't be stupid now. Also my girl, Vivian! Sweet 16 is very special birthday. don't know why but oh wells :P

My strengths in writing are not great. I have many weaknesses and I try to improve it but I'm too lazy to do anything about it :P GAHhh! i heard a lot about copying other people's work and I use to do it. I would change a couple words and I would be done. Now, technology has advanced to such a level that plagiarism is nearly impossible. That's probably why my writing skills are near elementary level. A time where I felt my speech was unsatisfying is probably back when I was when i was presenting a book report. I was unprepared. I basically repeated the plot over and over but different each time.

My Self Reflection.

Today, my friends from San Francisco came to visit me. It was nice to see them again. It's been so long since I've seen them. They didn't change one bit. Anyways, we just chatted a bit and caught up. My friend felt like playing pool so we went to CVB to shoot some pool. It was my first time going there too. The pool tables there are very nice in fact. Anyways, after that I brought them to the Dining Commons. They didn't eat as much as I thought since it was like... all you can eat. But yeah... I moved in to my new dorm in Hoover. No more partying dorm neighbors!! WOOO! haha. My new roommate, Justin, is an exchange student; he doesn't really speak English. Oh wells. At least I'm in a more peaceful building now ^.^

I did my loneliness survey and I scored a 65 meaning I experience a little loneliness. To be honest, who doesn't experience a little loneliness? (not counting mother's boy) There's a point in life where you will have to do things on your own and you have to be prepared for that. My old roommate and I had a decent relationship. I guess we weren't compatible as expected. I prefer more quiet roommates so I don't have to chat every minute. Racism is not something I am easily affected. I was raised around a lot of the stereotypical slurs. My friends also say things like that but I guess I grew on it. I know when a comment is racial so I never say it unless I know that person is comfortable with it. Touch can mean many things. It depends the intent of that person. If it's a much forceful touch, it would have a negative feeling. If it's soft and gentle, it gives a happier, positive aura. My time management is horrible. I tend to push everything until the last moment before I start. I feel more comfortable when I am under more pressure. Everything comes to me like magic! (not really) When I know that I have plenty of time to complete my work, I tend to delay my work through detours on the Internet i.e facebook, youtube, onemanga, etc. That's why I prefer to wait for the last moment. I's a very bad habit to do so I guess I will try my best to break that habit.

The Mime

Today, we participated in an in-class activity. The activity is known as "mime" ... I think :P Anyways, you start by being paired up into groups of two. One will be a mime and the other person will be the mirror. Basically, you just mimic your partner. The idea of this exercise is that it helps you with nonverbal communication. This exercise was not my first time. When I participated, I was very open with my moments. (I knew David would feel uncomfortable xP) This activity was fun and awkward at the same time.

The Library

My My! That library at SJSU is so nice! This library is a fusion of the college and city library. It's much bigger than any other library i have been to. The library has eight floors. There's quiet floors and silent floors for studying. What's the difference? The silent floor is the floor where you can't talk at all. The quiet floor allows quiet whispers. The library also has an amazing website for easy browsing. The selection varies a lot. You can reserve computers for use or study rooms for study groups.

Tip #2
Stay Organized.
Being organized helps you stay on task and immediate review when you need it. It will help you in the long run. You will not be stressing out on misplaced papers or anything.

Another Week Done

Oh man, school has been a bummer. I sorta forgot the feeling of having homework. lol. Anyways, The week has been pretty straight-forward; I just went to class and take notes. On Tuesday, I went to Story Hour at the University Theater. The stories were all very hilarious and amusing. I think that would be the "Highlight" of my week. Other than that, BORING BORING BORING!

I came back home to SF on Thursday because I miss home SOOOOO much. (I like cold weather :P) I couldn't do much because I was "grounded." Hard to believe an 18 year college student is grounded. But anyways, I stayed home and rotted away. I mostly browsed the web and youtube and facebook. That got boring really fast... So around 7pm, I ended up playing World of Warcraft until 2 in the morning. Yup... good times on W.o.W. If you wanna hit me up, I'm on Chromaggus Server: username Löwfätmïlk <--- Hella Sick Wit It xP.

The "first" post

Boy, has college been smooth. The first week was very dormant. Not much happened. But now since the second week started, the work seems to be piling up.

Now, time to refer to some of the review questions:
During the transition from high school to college, you will face a major turn in your life. In the college life, you will meet new people. During this situation, both of you will face different challenges. For example, you will need to adjust to the lifestyle in the dorms as the other must figure out a way to commute to school from an apartment away from campus. Jobs will differ from classes you are taking. Things that you and your friend will face will probably be the college life. Well, I mean college life isn't that simple. college is completely different from high school. You will have your own responsibility to complete the work assigned. In college, nobody treats you like a kid.
What are values? Values are our beliefs and attitudes about the way we think things should be. My values are my family and friends, a good education, and career. These values will give me motivation to succeed in college. Without them, I don't think I would last in college.
If I was talking to a high school student, I would tell them don't slack off. A little break once in awhile is good but don't let that get in the way of your academics. Staying organized is a good way to prepare for college life too.

Tips For Success in College #1
Keep track of your money If you've never had to create a budget, now is the time to start. College is great place to begin. Stretch out your budget as even as possible. Debt is not your friend. Supposedly, credit card debt in college can become very high.

My First Week

School has been hot. When I say hot, I mean HOT. I'm literally melting in the sun. Other than that, it has been very dormant. Not much has happened yet in any of my class. Just got to wait until next week for something to do.

-------------------------------------------------------------

The food here is really good. Maybe I'm just hungry and willing to eat anything but who cares! I can have as many meals as I want ^.^ My favorite part would probably be dessert. Ice cream is really good! I just can't get enough of it >.< I think I'm going to get fat... curses
